1. Blockade 50 nationwide speaking tour

 

21-29 May 2013

 

Our Blockade50 Speaking tour with French academic, author, journalist, and

specialist on Cuba-US relations, Dr Salim Lamrani, who will be discussing and

signing copies of his new book ‘The Economic War Against Cuba’.

His talk will examine everything you need to know about US economic sanctions

against Cuba: their origins, their provisions, how they contravene

international law, and how they affect the lives of Cubans.

 

The national meeting in London takes place on Tuesday 28 May from 6.30pm at

Bolivar Hall, 54-56 Grafton Way, London, W1T. This and all other meetings are

free entry. All welcome.

2. Work for the Cuba Solidarity Campaign

 

CSC has two vacancies for a Campaigns Officer and an Admin/Finance Officer

 

Campaigns Officer, full time (4 or 5 days)

£21,000 – £25,000 pro rata.

You will need sound administrative and written communication skills to

organise participation at trade union conferences, build on strong union and

parliamentary relations, write briefings, press releases, journal articles and

manage contact databases.

 

Administrative and Finance Officer full or part time (4 or 5 days)

£21,000 – £25,000 pro rata.

The Administration and Finance posts could be two part time posts, one job

share, or one full time post.

3. ‘We will always be the Cuban Five’, Gerardo Hernandez writing about Rene

He could have used the same reasons of those who very soon decided to plead

guilty and cooperate with the authorities. After long years of separation, he

already had at his side Olga and Irmita, and had been able to enjoy for just

four months the newborn Ivette.

4. Cubans march against homophobia in Havana

 

Hundreds of Cubans staged a protest against homophobia and for gay rights, in

the capital, Havana, on 11 May.

 

The march was led along Havana’s central streets by Cuban gay rights

campaigner Mariela Castro.

6. Sponsored Walk for Cuba

 

Join us on a wonderful walk through the beautiful Chess Valley to raise funds

for the Cuba Solidarity Campaign this July.

 

The Walk for Cuba, starting at Little Chalfont, is a 6½ mile circular walk and

will take 3 hours at a leisurely pace. A shorter walk of 3 miles is also

offered for those that can’t manage the full route.
